About

Pont Festival

Pont Festival, born from the cooperation of Hanveto and Budapest Spring Festival, brings the wonders of the world to Budapest. Two early spring days dedicated to diversity and tradition, through the prism of UNESCO’s intangible heritage list: interactive family programs and concerts bring cultural treasures from across the globe.

Along Hungarian heritage, the Kodály method or the Táncház movement, we showcase music, customs and crafts of distant cultures. This year, Turkic heritage and the Central Asian region is in our focus. The venue, Castle Garden Bazaar provides a suitable setting, with views to the heritage listed Castle District and the Danube Bank.

Afternoon programs cater for all ages: kids can make felt balls, headdresses and clay horses, listen to stories in a yurt or try their hands at ebru; grown-ups can sample Nowruz cuisine, Turkish coffee, marvel at authentic handcrafts. A falconry show, a date with an eagle, workshops and unique exhibits will attract young and old.

VENUE

Programmes and concerts of Pont Festival will take place in the Aula and Event Hall of Castle Garden Bazaar.

Constructed between 1875 – 1883, based on neo-renaissance plans by Miklós Ybl, the Castle Garden Bazaar was rejuvenated and extended to host a cultural venue and community centre. State-of-the-art facilities and a gorgeous location host programmes for all ages.

Find Pont Festival workshops and concerts in the Aula and the Event Hall, enjoy the falconry demo in the Neo-renaissance Garden. In line with Pont Festival’s theme, views of the world heritage listed Danube Bank and Castle District serve as backdrop.
