Bassekou Kouyate is a world famous master of one of West Africa’s emblematic instruments, the ngoni. The world’s greatest stages, awards and cooperations with the likes of Ry Cooder, Sir Paul McCartney, Toumani Diabate and Ali Farka Toure mark his career. At PONT festival he is joined by his wife, Amy Sacko, who also hails from a griot family and is known as the Malian Tina Turner for her characteristic voice. Their duo channels Malian and Mande heritage, uncovering why many regard this region the cradle of pop. The hypnotic swirl of this music is fresh as ever, and hasn’t lost any of its charm for hundreds of years, as Múzeumkert shall witness.
